MARINE WORKSHOP FOR CHILTERN UNITED FOOTBALL PLAYERS
On Wednesday 25th October, Whitesand oceanographer Aleida Escandell Westcott gave a workshop on Posidonia and its associated ecosystem to the players of the English club, Chiltern United. During the explanation, the importance of Posidonia for the local population was conveyed and we explained the awareness, protection and management work done on the island in recent years.
We also explained in depth the different species of fish that live around Posidonia, forming a rich and diverse ecosystem, and we were even able to learn the names of the fish in Catalan!
It is important to transmit to visitors the vision of the local population, to raise awareness among tourists in order to evolve towards conscious and sustainable tourism. Protecting the seas and oceans is everyone’s job and it is important that it reaches all social actors.
Many thanks to Chiltern United Football for your participation and for your enthusiasm in every question!
