ALL TOURIST DESTINATIONS MUST PRESERVE THEIR SURROUNDINGS
In March 2023, Whitesand Solutions participated in the meetings held in Brussels together with other executive members of the Mediterranean Posidonia Network (MPN) to propose concrete measures in the future Law of Restoration of Nature.
With the aim of pushing the EU to help the nautical sector to practice a low impact nautical activity anchoring away from the meadows of Posidonia.
We are pleased to learn that the European Parliament is continuing to work towards greater protection of the Legal Protection position for all EU countries, as well as encouraging those in the rest of the Mediterranean.
We were able to show the great journey of this project in favor of the protection of the Posidonia oceanica in all the Mediterranean (from Formentera to Brussels: 2013 to 2023).
These measures include the monitoring of posidonia, ecological mooring, other interactive mapping tools, the development of self-financing mechanisms and ongoing support for awareness-raising.
A recognition and sample of the more than 10 years of joint work with the Conselleria de Medi Ambient i Territorio – together with the coordinators Marcial Bardolet & Ivanxu Burrera, the Formentera Council, the Office français de la biodiversité and now through the MPN.
