ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AT CALA SAONA BEACH
During two consecutive weekends, environmental education days were held for young people and adults of the island on the beach of Cala Saona. Through Whitesand Solutions, 4 campaigns were carried out:
- Campaign to publicise the environmental values of coastal areas and environmentally responsible actions to regulate anchoring and reduce non-biodegradable waste on beaches.
- Children’s recreational-sports days: during the first weekend a beach rugby tournament was held, the first with which the new Formentera Rugby Club debuted. The second weekend was a fun day where, together with the children of the Argos Association, we were able to collect waste from the beach and control the anchoring of boats.
- Information campaign on the island’s protected natural areas and the permitted and prohibited actions in each of them, as well as the most endangered species present in these areas.
- Specific campaign on climate change and how to combat it when going to the beach.
